LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lafayette College volleyball team dropped its second conference match to Bucknell, three sets to one, on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman

Leanna Deegan and sophomore
Grace Tulevech also recorded double-digit kills with 10 each. Senior Katrina Ruggerio finished with eight and sophomore
Kelly Austin finished with four.
Set one saw an early back and forth between Lafayette (11-7,( 0-2)) and Bucknell (12-2, (1-1)). The Bison would gain momentum near the middle of the set though, taking the lead and winning 25-17.
Bucknell once again jumped out to an early lead in the second set, putting up four points before an attack error by the Bison put the Leopards on the board. Lafayette would start to gain momentum near the middle of the set, tying things up at 6-6. The teams would trade points until the Bison took control to go up 10-8.
The Maroon and White would then mount a four point scoring run, thanks to kills by Austin and Carrera-Justiz and errors by the Bison to bring them within one. Carrera-Justiz then exploded for four kills in a row to push the Leopards back on top 19-17 and from there, were able to hang onto the lead for the rest of the set, winning 25-21.
Sets three saw just as much back and forth as the first two sets of the match did in the beginning but it would be an eight point scoring run for the Bison that would push them ahead. Later in the set, the Leopards tried to counter with a seven point scoring run of their own to bring the score back within three. From there, the Bison pushed their lead out to five but kills from Ruggiero and Tulevech pulled Lafayette back within two, making it 23-21.
The Bison were able to hang on and get the set three win, 25-22.
The fourth had a more promising start for the Leopards as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. But the momentum from the start was not enough to force a fifth set as they dropped the final set of the match by a close score of 23-25.
The Leopards will remain on the road for their next two matches, taking on Navy on Friday night and Loyola University Maryland on Saturday. Friday's match is set to start at 7 p.m. and Saturday's at 3 p.m.
