EASTON, Pa. – It was an explosive 27-point third quarter that propelled Lafayette to its third league win Saturday afternoon, knocking down Navy 79-52.
Junior
Natalie Kucowski added to her growing list of accolades this week, recording her 1,000
th career-point, making her just the 19
th 1,000 point scorer in program history. She recorded 15 points on the afternoon.
Senior
Alexis Santarelli also had a big game recording her first double double of the season with a season-high 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. She was a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe and went 7-10 from the paint.
Two other Leopards found themselves in double figures with junior
Drew Freeland putting up 13 and sophomore
Nicole Johnson recording 10.

Sydney Sabino also had a season-high day with nine points, 23 minutes played, three field goals made, three three-pointers made, one assist and one steal.
After trading the lead for a majority of the first half, Lafayette (7-9, 3-3 PL), found themselves up by one, 31-30, at the start of the third quarter.
Kucowski started things off for the Leopards, putting in two from the paint. Navy (5-12, 0-6 PL) responded with a layup of their own but Freeland added in another two for the Leopards and from there, they would go on a seven-point scoring run to put themselves up by 10.
Navy tried to cut into the Leopards lead but wasn't successful as they would score just three more points in the quarter. Lafayette ended the quarter on a six-point scoring run to push their lead out to 18 heading into the final quarter.
The Maroon and White scored 27 points in the third quarter alone. Those 27 points is the most points the team has scored in a quarter so far this season. 11 of those points came from Santarelli.
Lafayette didn't slow down at all in the fourth, pushing their lead out to 25 midway through the fourth quarter and with 26 seconds left in the game, Sabino floated in a three from beyond the arc to give the Leopards a 30-point lead, their largest of the game.
The Midshipmen scored with seven seconds left in the game to bring the final deficit to 27 and the final to 79-52.
With the win, the Leopards earned their third Patriot League win of the season, already passing their league win total from last season.
Up next in a midweek trip to Army on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off against the Black Knights before returning home on Saturday for the first of two rivalry games against Lehigh.
