Lafayette Falls to Holy Cross on Saturday

Leopards are back in action on Wednesday at Boston University

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette Women's Basketball saw its six-game home win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as it fell to the Holy Cross Crusaders 57-49.

Junior Natalie Kucowski led the way for the Leopards with 15 points and nine rebounds while senior Alexis Santarelli notched 10 points.

Holy Cross (15-9, 8-5 PL) jumped out to a quick lead but a three-pointer by sophomore Nicole Johnson put Lafayette (12-11, 8-5 PL) quickly back in the game to take an 11-9 lead halfway through the first quarter.

Holy Cross took control of the game to go up by eight at the end of the first quarter and would push that lead out to 10 heading into the locker room at the half.

The Maroon and White outscored the Crusader's 18-13 in the third quarter to bring the score within five heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

The Leopards starting to close to gap in the first few minutes of the fourth quarter with back-to-back jumpers by Santarelli to bring the Leopards within one, 44-43, but from there the Crusaders picked up the pace offensively and was able to push out their lead to eight, holding the Leopards to just 10 points in the fourth quarter and walk away with the win.

Lafayette is on the road for its next two games, traveling to Boston University for a Wednesday night matchup and Loyola for a Saturday afternoon battle.
