Lafayette assistant helped the Leopards to the 2019 Patriot League Championship

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men's soccer assistant coach, Jorge Chapoy was announced Monday as the new head coach at Dickinson College after a six year stint with the Leopards.

"I am very grateful to Lafayette College and its administration for putting me in a position to achieve my goal of becoming a head coach at a great institution like Dickinson College," Chapoy said. "I cannot thank Coach Bohn enough for being a great friend and mentor during my tenure at Lafayette. He supported my growth as a coach and fully prepared me for this new challenge and I will certainly miss working with him but I know I will continue to look to him for guidance as I start this role. Lastly, I will always have so much gratitude towards the Lafayette players, their families and alumni. Lafayette is truly a special place and I will certainly miss it. I am very excited to get started at Dickinson and build upon their successes over the years."

Chapoy was part of the coaching staff that helped lead the Maroon and White to the Patriot League Championship this past season.

"I'm so happy for Jorge and his family for the wonderful opportunity at Dickinson," Lafayette head coach Dennis Bohn said. "His demeanor and ability to stay positive will create an amazing environment in their program. We will dearly miss him but his impact on Lafayette Soccer will never be forgotten. I can't thank him enough for everything that he did for the team as well as for me and my family. I wish him the best of luck with this well-deserved next step in his career."

Prior to arriving at Lafayette, Chapoy served as the assistant coach at his alma mater, East Stroudsburg University, where he assisted with all aspects of the program. He also was as the head coach for the U13 girls PAGS team of ENCO United and the U18 boys MAPS team of the RYSA.

As a player, he had a standout career playing for East Stroudsburg, netting 73 goals and tallying 36 assists. He was named a First Team All-American and the PSAC Conference Player of the Year in 2003.
