Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Kucowski Records 46th Career Double Double in Loss to Bison

Leopards head to Lewisburg tomorrow for a 4 p.m. tip

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette women's basketball team dropped Saturday afternoon's contest, 80-51, to the Bucknell Bison at Kirby Sports Center.

Senior Natalie Kucowski led the way for the Leopards with 17 points and 10 rebounds, marking her third straight double double and the 46th of her career. Senior Drew Freeland recorded eight points and six rebounds while freshman Makayla Andrews recorded seven points in her third collegiate game.

Freshmen Alana Lombardi and Amaya Douglas saw their first collegiate action off the bench for the Maroon and White, both coming in in the final two minutes of the game. Douglas pulled down two rebounds in her two minutes of action.

Bucknell (3-0) took control of the game early. After Kucowski put in the first basket of the game on either side, the Bison quickly pulled ahead to a six-point lead, stretching it out to as far as 13 at the end of the first 10 minutes.

Both the Bison and the Leopards scored 14 points in the second quarter but it was the Bison heading into the locker room up 13 at the half way mark.

The Leopards attempted a last attempted push in the final three minutes off the game with junior Naomi Ganpo hitting a field goal from just outside the paint. Andrews followed up Ganpo bucket with a three-point field goal from beyond the arc before a Lafayette foul would send the Bison to the line for two extra shots, giving them the final say of the game.

Lafayette travels to Lewisburg tomorrow for a 4 p.m. tip-off rematch with Bucknell.
