Men's Soccer Drops Final Non-Conference Test to Hofstra

Lafayette returns to Patriot League action Saturday against American

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Lafayette College men's soccer team dropped its Tuesday night final non-conference game of the season, 0-4, to CAA opponent Hofstra.

The Leopards were led by freshman Lawrence Aydlett who totaled a team-leading three shots and one on goal. Junior Jon Ford and freshman Eoin Martin also each tallied a shot.

Freshman Griffin Huff totaled four saves between the pipes.

Hofstra (12-1-1, 3-1-1 CAA) started off the game with four quick shots in the first ten minutes of action. Aydlett would eventually get the first shot on the board for Lafayette (7-6-1, 3-2-1 PL) in the 14th minute.

The Pride found the back of the net twice in the first half, first in the 32nd minute of action off a penalty kick and then again in the 37th minute of action to make the score 2-0 heading into halftime.

The second half was once again all Hofstra as the Pride tacked on two more goals to bring the score to 4-0.

Martin had one last chance effort for the Maroon and White to get on the board in the 88th minute but his shot went right into the hands of Hofstra's goalkeeper, and the Pride walked away with the 4-0 victory.

The Leopards return to Patriot League action on Saturday as they are set to take on American at Oaks at 7 p.m. Saturday is also senior night for the Maroon and White and they will honor seniors Andrew Venezia, Martin Ssessanga and Asher Carlson for their years of hard work and dedication to the program.
