EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College men's soccer team fell to American Saturday night at Oaks Stadium, 1-2, in overtime on senior night.

Lafayette was led by senior
Marcos Kitromilides who netted the Leopards lone goal in the game, and junior
Hale Lombard who netted his first assist of the season. The goal was Kitromilides fifth of the season.

Martin Ssessanga each totaled a team-leading three shots with all four putting one shot on goal.

American (6-4-4, 4-2-1 PL) struck first finding the back of the net just 47 seconds into the game to go up 1-0. Lafayette (7-7-2, 3-3-1 PL) responded with the next three shots of the game but none could find a way past the Eagles goalkeeper and the game remained 1-0 in favor of the Eagles through the rest of the first half.

The Leopards came out fighting in the second half, with Lombard, Kitromilides, and senior
Andrew Venezia each firing off a shot towards the Eagles net within the first few minutes of action. The Maroon and White's offensive push paid off in the 79
th minute when Kitromilides found the back of the net off an assist by Lombard, to put in the equalizer with 11 minutes left in regulation.

Neither squad could find the back of the net in the final minutes of regulation, and the game headed into overtime, marking the fifth time this season that the Maroon and White have needed extra time to decide a winner.

American netted the golden goal in the 99
th minute to give the Eagles a 2-1 overtime victory.

Despite the loss, the Maroon and White held the 20-6 game shot advantage and held the Eagles shot less in the second half, 12-0.

Up next for the Leopards is a trip to Holy Cross on October 30 to take on the Crusaders at 12 p.m. They are then set to close out the regular season against Army at Oaks on November 3 at 7 p.m.
