BALTIMORE, Md. - The Lafayette women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Loyola University on Saturday at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Loyola got on the board first in the 37th minute when a header by Kelly Hutton off a free kick went past Lafayette goalkeeper Natalie Neumann. The goal was assisted by Arin Sigfusdottir.
For the next 51 minutes both teams traded shots, but neither team found the back of the net. Then in the 88th minute, Loyola's Elizabeth Gallagher skated by two Lafayette defenders and found the bottom right corner of the goal. She was assisted by Jess Korman.
Lafayette ended the afternoon with 12 shots and Loyola had 11. The Leopards had three shots on goal and the Greyhounds had six on target. Lafayette's Melissa Lamanna recorded four shots, Katie Butler had three, Emily Coe took two, and Lauren Cunningham, Riley Dowd and Sara Oswald were credited with one shot each.
Lafayette goalkeeper Natalie Neumann is credited with four saves.
The Leopards will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to play the Bison of Bucknell University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 9th.
