Women's Soccer Loses at Bucknell

Gretchen Waechter and Sara Oswald led the Leopards in shots

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Bucknell University on Saturday at Emmitt Field.

For the first 29 minutes of the match, both teams traded attempts on goal. In the 30th minute, Bucknell's Rylee Donaldson got behind the Lafayette defense as she received a long ball from Claire Mensi, putting Donaldson one-on-one with Lafayette goalkeeper Lindsay Dewar. Donaldson's shot went past the outstretched arms of Dewar and found the bottom left corner of the goal, giving Bucknell a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes left to play in the first-half.

Neither team was able to get on the board in the second-half.  The Bison led the Leopards 11 to 3 in shots in the second 45 minutes of play.

Lafayette ended the day with 7 shots and Bucknell had 26.  The Leopards were credited with three shots on goal and the Bison recorded ten.  Lafayette was led in shots by Sara Oswald and Gretchen Waechter with two each.  Melissa Lamanna, Lauren Cunningham and Michaela Salvati were credited with one shot a piece.

Goalkeeper Lindsay Dewar started the match for the Leopards, recorded five saves and was the goalkeeper of record.  Natalie Neumann entered the game for the second-half and is credited with four saves.

The Leopards will open a three game home stand on Wednesday, October 13th, when they meet the Black Knights of Army West Point at 7 p.m. at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
