WORCESTER, Mass. -- Lafayette College women's soccer dropped its first road contest of the season to Holy Cross on Saturday, 2-1.
The Crusaders (1-0-0) struck early with a close-range finish from junior forward Lexi Ansaldi in the fourth minute. It was the first goal the Leopards had conceded this season after holding Bucknell scoreless for 110 minutes in the opener.
Lafayette (0-1-1) received a boost off the bench as a pair of subs combined to equalize late in the first half. Sophomore forward
Melissa Lamanna got on the end of a pass from freshman midfielder
Emily Coe for a 32rd minute goal. It was the Markham, Ontario native's first career goal, while the freshman tallied her first point with the assist.
A Holy Cross sub did the damage in the second half as sophomore forward Katie Quinn scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute. The finish was the game-winner for the Crusaders, as they earned a season-opening win.
Senior midfielder
Sophie Saldivar and sophomore forward
Sara Oswald were the Leopards' leaders in shots, with each tallying four shots and two on target. Junior forward
Katie Butler also made an effort off the bench, recording two shots in the game. In 45 minutes of action in goal, sophomore
