Men's Soccer Looks to Win Third-Straight Saturday

Leopards and Raiders are set for a 12 p.m. matchup at Oaks

*The Leopards and Raiders are set for a 12 p.m. matchup on Saturday at Oaks. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

*Lafayette is searching for its third-straight win. The last time they won three-straight was the 2018 season.

*The Leopards defeated Holy Cross last weekend in their spring season home opener, 2-1. Junior Sebastian Varela netted the first goal of the game for the Maroon and White in the 30th minute of an assist from freshman Carter Houlihan. The assist marked Houlihan's first of his collegiate career. Four minutes later, in the 34th minute, junior Marcos Kitromilides scored his first of the season off an assist from sophomore Benji Grossi

*Colgate comes into Saturday's game with a 0-2 record. The Raiders dropped their home opener last Saturday 3-0 to Boston U. They are led by freshman Aidan Davock and freshman Justin Weiss. Davock leads the Raiders in goals (1), points (2) shots (6) while Weiss leads the team in assists (1) and shots on goal (2).

*Kitromilides and Varela were named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Midfielder of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 15.  Varela's Midfielder of the Week honors was the first ever midfielder of the week nod for the Leopards and Kitromilides Offensive Player of the Week nod marked the second-straight week that a Leopard has been named Offensive Player of the Week. It also marks the first time since 2006 that back-to-back Leopards have been earned the honor.

*In the NCAA as a team, the Leopards are 36th in shots per game (13.50 per game), 32nd in shutout percentage (.500), 24th in team goals against average (.500) and tied for first in won-lost-tied percentage (1.000). Individually, junior Alex Sutton is 29th in goals against average (.500), sophomore Benji Grossi and freshman Carter Houlihan are tied for 45th in assists per game (.50) and junior Sebastian Varela is 47th in shot accuracy (.600).

*In the Patriot League as a team, the Leopards are first in goal differential (2), shots per game (13.50) and team goals against average (.500), and second in points per game (4.00), shots on goal per game (5.50) and total points (8). Individually, Sutton is first in goals against average (.500).

*Colgate leads the all-time series, 19-15-4, with the all-time series dating back to 1987.

*During the 2019 season the Leopards beat the Raiders 3-0 during regular-season play and 2-1 in the Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal game, it was Kitromilides who found the back of the net first in the 7th minute off a penalty kick and then Ryan Goncalves in the 57th minute, off an assist from James Gibson, broke the 1-1 tie with the eventual game-winner.
