Baseball Set for Weekend Series with Lehigh

Leopards are looking to stay perfect in Patriot League action

*Lafayette enters this weekend's series with a 4-2 overall record and a perfect 3-0 in Patriot League action. The Leopards fell in their midweek game on Tuesday to Kansas, 5-20, and the second game of the originally scheduled two-game midweek series was canceled due to weather. 

*The Leopards and Mountain Hawks are set for a four-game series this weekend, playing two in Easton on Saturday and two in Bethlehem on Sunday. 

*Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jake Bloss was named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for throwing 5.2 innings in a combined no-hitter, with sophomore Nolan Morr, on Sunday against the Crusaders. This marked the first no-hitter for the program since 2004. 

*Freshman Justin Grech leads the Leopards in batting average (.474), slugging percentage (.737), runs scored (9), hits (9) and total bases (14) so far this season. Senior Ethan Stern leads the Leopards in stolen bases with six so far this season. On the mound, Bloss leads the Leopards with a 1.04 ERA, sophomore Jordan Yoder leads the team with two wins so far on the season and Morr is leading the pitching staff in saves with two. 

*Lehigh comes into this weekend's series with a 5-6 overall record and a 2-1 Patriot League record. They are coming off a series last weekend with Delaware, splitting the series with the Blue Hens. 

*The Mountain Hawks are led by senior Eric Cichocki who is holding a .463 batting average, a 1.219 OPS and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. On the mound, it has been Matt Svanson and Mason Black who have been dominate for the Mountain Hawks, posting a 1.64 and 2.53 ERA, respectively, pitching a combined 43.1 innings and striking out 63 opposing batters. 

*The Leopards lead the all-time series 212-162-2. Lehigh won the last meeting between the two squads on April 17, 2019 by a 12-1 final.
