STORRS, Conn. – The Lafayette College volleyball team played a pair of matches Saturday to close out the UConn Challenge, winning the finale over Central Connecticut State after dropping a morning match to Rutgers.

The Leopards were able to take a set from the Big 10-foe Rutgers, but ultimately fell in four sets.

Senior
Leanna Deegan had a double-double with 23 kills and 15 digs to go along with five service aces while classmate
Grace Tulevech added 10 putaways.

Match Two
Â
In a five-set thriller, Deegan once again paced all attackers with 28 kills to help the Leopards notch their first victory of the season.

After falling behind after the third set, the Maroon and White came back to win the fourth and went on a 4-0 run to take a 24-20 advantage late in the frame.

Deegan also collected 14 digs for her second-straight double-double while junior
Ellie Carrera-Justiz was also in double-figures with 10 kills. Sophomore
Katie Weston had a career-high 28 digs in the win.

Lafayette will hold its home opener Tuesday when it hosts NJIT at
Kirby Sports Center at 7 p.m.
