Quinn’s Double-Double Paces ’Pards in Road Win Over American

Four Leopards score in double-figures for back-to-back conference wins

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Lafayette College men's basketball team rolled to a 69-56 victory Monday night over American inside Bender Arena behind junior Neal Quinn's double-double.

Four Leopards scored in double-figures, including Quinn's game-high 17 points to go along with 13 boards and seven assists. Classmate Leo O'Boyle had 15 and sophomore Kyle Jenkins added 10.

Sophomore Jon Brantley was inserted into the starting lineup and scored 16 points with three rebounds and three assists.

The Leopards had a season-low four turnovers while forcing American into 18 on the night, scoring 18 points off the Eagles' giveaways.

It was just a one-point game at the under-12 media timeout in the first half before the Leopards went on an 11-2 run to force the American timeout and take a 25-17 lead. The Maroon and White closed the half on a 9-2 run to lead by eight points at the break.

The Eagles opened the scoring with a jumper in the second half before an 8-0 Lafayette run that consisted of buckets by O'Boyle and Quinn and a Jenkins 3-pointer. American would answer with a quick 5-0 outburst of its own to make it just a seven-point deficit.

The Leopards quickly regained the momentum after a Brantley steal set up a reverse layup by O'Boyle on the fast break. He followed that up with a step-back jumper and freshman CJ Fulton got to the rim off a great feed by Quinn to give Lafayette a 13-point lead with under six minutes left.

Jenkins added to his highlight tape with a 3-pointer, followed by a put-back and-one dunk with one hand on back-to-back possessions to seal it. He added five rebounds and two steals to his ledger.

Fulton scored nine with five assists and two steals while O'Boyle matched his career best with three steals. Quinn's double-double was his fifth of the season and his 13 rebounds matches his career high.

Lafayette returns to Kirby Sports Center Wednesday to host Boston U at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
