Men’s Basketball Drops Midweek to BU

Leopards can’t find their rhythm Wednesday night

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College men's basketball team dropped an 81-62 decision to Boston University Wednesday night inside Kirby Sports Center.

The Terriers shot over 50% from the floor and 45% from 3-point range while putting four players in double-figures led by preseason Patriot League Player of the Year Javante McCoy's 17.

Despite Lafayette's 8-0 start to the game, holding the visitors scoreless for the opening four minutes, the Leopards could not find their rhythm from deep, matching a season-low four 3-pointers for the game on 21 attempts.

Sophomore Kyle Jenkins was a bright spot, scoring 15 points with five rebounds to pace the Maroon and White.

Freshman CJ Fulton tied the game at 24 at the 4:47 mark in the first half before the Terriers were able to grab momentum heading into the break, scoring eight of the first half's final 10 points.

Boston U. continued to pull away, opening the second half by scoring eight of the first 11 points, getting key contributions off its bench, outscoring Lafayette 21-6 in bench points.

Juniors Neal Quinn and Leo O'Boyle scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, marking Quinn's 11th-straight contest with double-figures. He also hauled in six boards with three assists and a pair of rejections.

Making his second consecutive start, sophomore Jon Brantley reached double figures with 10 points while senior Tomas Verbinskis played a season-high 18 minutes, scoring four points.

The Leopards travel to Army for a Saturday contest at 1 p.m. before opening up a three-game homestand, beginning with Colgate on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. inside Kirby Sports Center.
