HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lafayette College volleyball team was defeated in three sets (25-19, 25-14, 25-20) Friday evening against Colgate on Cotterell Court.

Freshman
Carol Ulichney was the bright spot for the Leopards, finishing with 10 kills.
It was a promising start for the Leopards while each team battled back and forth for the duration of the first set. Lafayette had an early streak of six unanswered points, but the Raiders created their own two bands of five apiece to take the set 25-19.
The second set continued to prove that both groups were eager to fight, going point-for-point from four to 10. Colgate put together a 6-1 run to take the 15-9 advantage, grabbing momentum that would carry it to the third frame. The Leopards were able to get five points closer, but the Raiders proved to be too much at 25-14.
Lafayette bounced back in the third, keeping within two for the majority of the final game. Colgate  answered with two straight kills from Abby Shadwick to earn the victory.Â
Abby Nieporte and
Mataya Megson followed Ulichney with eight and six kills, respectively.
Alyssa Vitale earned 27 assists on the night.
Lafayette continues Patriot League play, traveling to Army tomorrow for a 4 p.m. start.
