EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College volleyball team got off to a fast start Saturday afternoon in Kirby Sports Center, but ultimately fell 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 14-25) to American.

Anna Penman had a double-double with 39 assists and a match-high 15 digs.

After taking the opening set in comeback fashion, the Leopards rolled that momentum into the second set, scoring the first three points in the frame. However American would battle back and score five-straight points to close out the second.

The Eagles would hit .481 in the second set and .429 in the fourth, along with 21 total blocks in the match to overpower the Leoaprds.

Elizabeth Flynn each had 11 kills while senior
Mataya Megson had her career high with four kills and two blocks. Senior
Grace Steurer was efficient, hitting .357 with 12 kills and seven digs to go along with three service aces.Â

Lafayette makes the quick turnaround, hosting Holy Cross on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Kirby Sports Center.
