Leopards Drop Home Opener to ETSU

Andrews scores in double figures in back-to-back games

 
EASTON, Pa.
 - The Lafayette women's basketball team was knocked off in its home opener vs. East Tennessee State, 65-45, on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Makayla Andrews scored in double figures for the Leopards with 13 points, her second straight game as Lafayette's leading scorer. 
 
Jiselle Thomas and Jakhyia Davis both scored in double figures for the Bucs, with 22 and 16 points, respectively. Thomas shot 50 percent from the floor, coming off of a 32-point effort against St.Bonaventure on Friday night.
 
ETSU took control of the game by the end of the first quarter, leading 21-6. Halee Smith scored five of the Leopards' six points while Andrews added one from the line.
The Bucs scored 15 points in the second quarter, including an 11-0 run to extend the halftime margin to 36-16.
 
The Leopards came alive during the third quarter, putting up 14 points. Andrews netted eight in the quarter, while Abby Antognoli and Kayla Drummond scored four and two, respectively.
 
Lafayette outscored ETSU 15 to 8 in the fourth quarter. Drummond picked up six of her 10 rebounds in the fourth, putting back two caroms for baskets. For the game, the Leopards were out-rebounded 42-30. 
  
The Leopards will head to Cornell on Wednesday, followed by another trip to New York on Saturday when they take on Siena.
