Men’s Basketball Welcomes Class of 2027

Jordan brings in a three-member recruiting class

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men's basketball head coach Mike Jordan introduced the program's three-member class of 2027 this week.

Mark Butler, a four-year varsity point guard out of Philadelphia, Pa., attends the William Penn Charter School. The six-footer was given the Coaches Award as a freshman and tabbed Second Team All-Inter-AC as a sophomore. His junior season saw accomplishments such as the Inter-AC championship winner, MVP of the Inter-AC, First Team All-Inter-AC, non-PIAA All-State Third Team and Third Team All-City.

Butler has club experience for Philly Pride, under coach Brandon Williams in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was a 16u Under Armour Association champion as an eighth grader.

The Philadelphia, Pa. native received multiple semesterly academic honors and lists extracurriculars as Bookbag Drive member, Food Drive member, Cleaning the Highway program and the Share Food program.

Butler has one brother, Miles, and his uncle, Terrance Barge, played basketball for the University of Maryland. He also recorded one year of varsity track and loves giving back to the community in different ways.

Ashton Wallace, a three-year varsity guard out of Cedar Hills, Utah, attends American Fork High School. The six-foot-three consistent Honor Roll recipient earned a championship title for 6A Region 4 in his home state and was named the 6A Tournament MVP.

Wallace has club experience with the Utah Stars, under coaches Marty Haws and Troy Zentner in Alpine, Utah, where he was an Under Armour finalist.

The Cedar Hills, Utah native has one brother, Bennett, and three sisters, Elena, Felicity and Gianna.

He helps coach little league basketball and assists children with disabilities in his free time. His family has a history with basketball; Angie Staples, aunt, attended BYU for basketball, uncle and aunt, Drew and Hillary Wallace, attended UVSC for basketball and sister, Elena, plays volleyball at SLCC.

Joshua Wyche, a three-year varsity guard/wing out of Philadelphia, Pa., attends Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School.

The six-foot-six wing earns Honor Roll laurels and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Campus Ministry. Wyche has club experience with the K-LOW Elite, under coach Kyle Sample in Philadelphia, Pa. The Philadelphia, Pa. native has two siblings, Jalen Herdsman and Nije Banks.

The Leopards travel to St. John's on Saturday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
