EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette returned home after a five-game road trip to face Columbia, falling to the Lions on Monday evening 57-45.
CJ Fulton and
Ryan Zambie commanded the Leopards in Kirby Sports Center, putting up 13 and 10 points, respectively. Fulton managed five steals and grabbed six rebounds, shooting at 50 percent both from the field and 3-point range.
The Leopards fought hard to stay in contention after a nine-point deficit, 27-18 at 4:35, due to a solid offensive performance from the Lions to start the game. Columbia shot 48 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc in the first half.
The second half saw more even defensive play in the opening minutes, as each team only put up a single bucket by the 13-minute mark.
The Lions made a 9-3 run at 11:27 for a 43-32 advantage. That lead would be extended for the remainder of the night, as the visitors went on to earn a 57-45 victory.
Blair Thompson led the Lions with 13 points, shooting 4-for-8 from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point range. Columbia had a 49-28 advantage in rebounds.
The Maroon and White will have a nine-day hiatus for the final exams period of the fall semester. Next up on the schedule is a road trip to La Salle on Dec. 21. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
