Leopards Rout Holy Cross Monday Night

Quinn, Fulton and Perry lead the way

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College men's basketball team ran past Holy Cross Monday night inside Kirby Sports Center, 84-61, behind junior Neal Quinn's 20 points and freshman CJ Fulton's career-best 19.

"We played really solid team defense and shot the ball extremely well tonight," said head coach Fran O'Hanlon. "We got some open looks and we knocked them down, but it started on the defensive end by getting stops to allow us to get out in transition."

Senior Tyrone Perry was also in double-figures with 17 points and five rebounds, while Quinn hauled in four boards and dished out six assists. Junior Leo O'Boyle added 10 points with four assists.

After a slow scoring start for both sides, the Leopards erupted for a 10-0 run midway through the first half, started by a step-back 3-pointer by freshman Devin Hines and capped-off by a Fulton trey to take a 28-15 lead at the 6:30 mark.

Lafayette was able to grow its lead to 13 points at the break before the Crusaders came out of halftime scoring seven of the first nine points in the frame to cut it to a 12-point game.

Perry got hot in the second half, scoring 14 of his 17 points in the frame, including four 3-pointers, one shy of Fulton's career-high five 3-balls.

The largest lead for the Maroon and White came after back-to-back 3-pointers when senior Jay Vaughan found an open O'Boyle late in the shot clock followed by a wide-open Fulton triple to make it 68-40. The Leopards scored on six-consecutive possessions to help grow the lead.

Lafayette shot it 56% for the second-straight game and 61% in the second half alone while hitting 13 3-pointers as a unit, the Leopards most in a Patriot League game this season.

Vaughan dished out a career-best three assists and scored on a reverse-layup while senior Tomas Verbinskis scored four points.

Just two games remain in the regular season, starting with a trip to Boston U on Wednesday before hosting Lehigh in The Rivalry on Saturday inside Kirby Sports Center.
