PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Lafayette softball team was dealt its first loss of the season, a 2-final on Sunday in the Eastern Shore Classic.

The Leopards were limited to one hit in the early-morning affair, a two-out single by
Natasha Miner in the top of the third inning. They briefly threatened in the fourth, putting a runner in scoring position with two outs, but could not break through.

St. Peter's opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a Katie Sciglimpaglia RBI-single that score Olyvia Smith. The Peacocks threatened for more, but the Lafayette defense came through for starter
Morrigan Gardiner. Centerfielder
Julia Roman cut down a runner at the plate trying to score on a sac fly to limit the Peackocks to one run.

St. Peter's manufactured a run in the third and added another in the fourth on an error to push the final to 3-0.

Gardiner took the loss, surrendering three runs on four hits over four innings with three walks and a strikeout.
Kinzi Van Wyk threw the final two innings, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and a walk. Sydney Senerchia collected the victory after striking out four and walking one over seven innings.

Lafayette closes out the tournament with a 3 p.m. matchup vs. host Maryland-Eastern Shore.
