JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Lafayette College baseball team fell to ETSU on Wednesday night, 13-4, in Johnson City.
The Leopards were led by junior
Pete Ciuffreda who went 1-for-4 with one run and two RBIs, freshman
Michael Zarrillo who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, and sophomore
Justin Grech who went 2-for-3 with one run. Starting pitcher senior
Frank Craska went 2.1 innings.
ETSU (12-3, 0-0 SoCon) struck first in the bottom of the second, exploding for five runs to take an early lead. The Buccaneers than added one run in the third and two runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead heading into the fifth.
Lafayette (3-14, 0-0 PL) was held scoreless until the sixth inning when freshman
Easton Brenner started off the inning with a single down the left field line. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch to open up first for Grech who drew a walk with no outs.

Kaleb Willis was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and Ciuffreda doubled to right center to bring Grech and Brenner home.
Zarrillo kept the inning going for the Leopards with a single to left field to bring Ciuffreda home and put the score at 8-3, ETSU. Two batters later, Chmielewski doubled to right center to bring home Zarillo and cut ETSU's lead in half.
The Buccaneers responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three in the bottom of the seventh to take a 13-4 lead.

Chase Barley, got the Buccaneers in order in the bottom of the eighth to send the game to the ninth.
Grech singled with two outs in the top of the ninth to try to get the Leopards bats going but junior
Patrick Vandenbergh struck out to end the top of the inning securing the 13-4 victory for ETSU.
The home team was led by senior Bryce Hodge who went 3-for-5 with one run and two RBIs, junior Garett Wallace who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and graduate student Cam Norgren who went 2-for03 with two runs and one RBI. Starting pitcher freshman Trevor Hanselman went 5.0 innings, striking out seven and picking up his first win of the season.
Lafayette will close out its road trip with a three-game series at Davidson starting on Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m.
