DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Lafayette College baseball team dropped a 10-1 decision to Davidson on Friday afternoon.
Carter Dorighi and
Easton Brenner both delivered a pair of hits for the Leopards who will play a three-game-series with Davidson.
Davidson (15-3) struck first in the bottom of the first inning, when Trevor Candelaria homered to center field for the 2-0 lead. The Wildcats proceeded to add three more runs and led 5-0 at the end of one.
The Leopards and the Wildcats traded runs in the bottom of the fifth and top of the sixth innings, and the margin n the scoreboard remained the same. Lafayette plated its run wth two outs in the sixth when Dorighi lifted a double down the left field line to score Brenner.Â
The hosts tacked on four more runs on five hits in the eighth inning to run the final to 10-1.
Luke Benneche took the loss on the hill for the Leopards,allowing six runs on six hits. He struck out 10 and walked three over five innings. Davidson starter Nolan Devos threw six innings for the win and struck out 11 Leopard batters in the outing.
The Leopards will be back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. Sunday's game has been moved up to noon.Â
