Women’s Lacrosse Defeated by Villanova in Midweek Contest

Rogers tallies her two first career goals and assists against the Wildcats

EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette women's lacrosse team was defeated by Villanova on Wednesday, 16-9.

Three Leopards scored twice today: Clare Culligan, Olivia Cunningham and Sara Rogers (her first collegiate goals). Sophia Spallone, Emilie de Keyzer and Kerry Tuorto all scored one a-piece.

Assists came from Sarah Bennett, Abby Romano, Cunningham, Meghan McLachlan, and Rogers (her first collegiate assists).

The Wildcats' Caroline Curnal, Sydney Pappas and Alexa Tsahalis tallied 12 goals together, with the addition of one a-piece from Addie Fischer, Cara Moreau, Sami Carey and Olivia Piccirilli.

The Maroon and White trailed in shots (32-26), ground balls (14-13), draw controls (17-9) and clears (18-19 to 17-20).

Lafayette's Lexie Coldiron made eight saves in the loss, while her Villanova counterpart, Alexa Moro, made nine.

Wednesday's game was dedicated to Madie Nicpon, a member of the Tufts women's lacrosse team, who tragically passed away this past fall. In honor of Nicpon, both teams are wearing blue ribbons tonight and have raised money for the Mustard Seed Charity, an organization with which Nicpon went on mission trips to help vulnerable children in Jamaica.

The Leopards return to Fisher Stadium on Saturday to host American, the first opponent of this year's conference schedule.
