BOSTON, Mass.- The Lafayette women's lacrosse team defeated Patriot League opponent Boston University, 16-13, on Saturday in Massachusetts.
The Leopards move to 2-8 overall (1-3 PL) with this first-ever victory against the Terriers and the first conference win of the season. Boston joined the Patriot League women's lacrosse conference for the 2014 season and has remained victorious against Lafayette until today.

Abby Romano put the Leopards on the board first at 13:59, followed by her classmate
Clare Culligan at 12:55 for her sixteenth goal of the season.
Boston replied with their first of the day at 11:26 from a free-position shot by Tobey Tick.
Culligan tallied another at 9:20 with a free-position shot of her own, getting the jump over Terrier defenders. Senior attacker
Olivia Cunningham copied her at 6:19 to put the Leopards up by three.
The Terriers added one to their score before Cunningham put back her twentieth goal on the season at 2:05, currently leading the team at 29 points. Culligan finished her hat trick at 1:46.
Boston kicked off the second quarter, but the Leopards were able to fend off the few shots that made it towards goal. Culligan fought her way through traffic for her fourth goal of the game at 10:41.
The Terriers make a free-position shot by Olivia Kingsborough at 9:30. Cunningham was the second Leopard of the day to receive a hat trick at 6:07. Romano is close behind, scoring just under one minute later.
Boston's Claire Gola made the team's fifth goal at 4:15 while the Leopards were a man-down. Ellen Monahan and Claire Gola put Boston only two behind Lafayette at 2:10 and 1:49.

Sophia Spallone added to the Leopards' lead at 1:06 to end the first half.
The Terriers took the first goal of the third period at 11:59 from Teagan Lucchese, before Cunningham tallied her fourth on the day at 8:10 during a man-up free-position shot.
Boston fired back to stay within two goals at 6:35. Freshman attacker
Sara Rogers made the most of a loose ball at 1:47. The Leopards have battled off the Terrier offense and scooped up a few turnovers to keep the advantage so far.

Meghan McLachlan makes a run around the crease for an insurance goal with just one second left in the period.
The final quarter was back and forth until the Leopards'
Sarah Bennett put back a beautiful pass from Rogers at 11:11.
Boston's Matty Spaeth fought through extensive Leopard defensive movements to score at 10:42 and 9:54.
Spallone added a man-up tally, assisted by Romano at 7:33. The Terriers' Gola found their twelfth goal of the game trailing Lafayette by three once again.
Culligan ripped another shot coming off a pass from McLachlan at 3:53 for her fifth of the day.
Boston's Spaeth took the last goal of the game with two seconds left to play.
The Leopards had the advantage in ground balls (24-17) and clears (21-24 to 11-14), but Boston remained in control of shots (32-28) and draw controls (23-10). Boston took 10 free-position shots, while Lafayette had seven.
Lafayette's sophomore goalkeeper
Lexie Coldiron made 10 saves in the victory, while her Boston counterparts, Kennady Smith and Arielle Hammer, made four each.
The Leopards continue conference play next Saturday, hosting Holy Cross.
