WORCESTER, Mass. – Lafayette's softball season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 10-2 loss at Holy Cross.

The game was close in the early going. Senior
Kinzi Van Wyk knotted the score at 1-1 in the second inning with her second home run of the season.

The Leopards grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when
Harlie Bickett advanced home on an infield fly.

When the game moved to the fifth, Holy Cross seized the momentum with four runs. Jessica Mott doubled in a pair of runs off Lafayette starter
Jacqueline Cal.
Kailee Sawai came into the game and gave up an RBI-single to Bailee Chavez. The Crusaders added another run on the second error of the inning.

Holy Cross put away the game with five runs on three hits and three errors in the sixth inning with Van Wyk in the circle. Megan Yurchick doubled in two runs.

Kelly Nelson struck out eight Leopard batters and held the Lafayette lineup to two hits in the win. Cal took the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits with a strikeout over 4.1 innings. Â

The Leopards finished the season 10-37, a nine-win improvement from the 2021 campaign.
