Lafayette travels to Hartford on Sunday

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette women's soccer team opened its 2022 season with a non-conference match against Quinnipiac University on Thursday afternoon at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium, falling to the Bobcats 3-0.

Neither team could gain any momentum in the first 45 minutes, with no score as the teams headed back to their respective locker rooms. In the first half, the Leopards recorded one shot, and the Bobcats had two shots of which one was on goal.

In the second half, Lafayette recorded four shots, two of which were on goal, while Quinnipiac took 12 shots, of which nine were on target. The scoreless tie was broken in the 59th minute when a foul on Lafayette in the box resulted in a Quinnipiac penalty kick. The Bobcats selected Courtney Chochol to take the kick, which she placed in the right upper corner of the goal just past the outstretched arms of Lafayette goalkeeper Natalie Neumann. In the 67th minute, Anna Costello doubled Quinnipiac's lead when she connected on a shot from the doorstep of the goal, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. In the 78th minute, the Bobcats found Chochol again, this time on a perfectly placed cross from Rebecca Cooke.
