EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's soccer team opened up its season with 1-0 loss to non-conference foe Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday night at Oaks Stadium.
Offensively, the Leopards were led by
Hale Lombard who recorded three shots.
Yiannis Panayides and
Benji Grossi added two apiece while sophomore
Lawrence Aydlett followed with one one.
FDU scored the lone goal of the game in the 33rd minute when Tony Gomez found the back of the net.
Lafayette controlled momentum during the second half, taking six shots to FDU's zero. The Knights' Hugo Bacharach drew a red card in the final few minutes of the game, but the Leopards could not capitalize with the extra player advantage.
Senior
Alex Sutton played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lafayette, stopping one shot while allowing one goal. His FDU counterpart, Spencer King, made four saves.
The Leopards are back in action at home on Monday when they host Albany at 7 p.m.
