Lombard Nets Two in Leopards Win Over Albany

Junior forward scores in each half

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's soccer team continued non-conference play Monday night against Albany, defeating the Great Danes 2-0 at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.

Offensively, the Leopards were led by junior forward Hale Lombard who scored two goals on two shots. Sophomore Lawrence Aydlett added three shots while senior Yiannis Panayides followed with two. Senior Marcos Kitromilides and sophomore Connor Dawson each recorded one shot.

Lombard found the back of the net at 30:34 off a throw-in assist from Will Echeverria. The momentum from Lombard's first goal carried the Leopards into the second half. At 51:57 Grossi set Lombard up for a perfect header past Albany's goalkeeper Shafique Wilson.

Lafayette controlled the momentum throughout the game, recording seven shots to Albany's three.

Senior Alex Sutton played all 90 minutes in goal for Lafayette, recording one save. His Albany counterpart, Wilson, made two saves while allowing two goals. Sutton was an integral part of the Lafayette offense, providing an 11th set of legs for much of the contest.

The Leopards travel to Emmitsburg, Md. on Friday to face Mount St. Mary's at 7 p.m.
