EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Syracuse on Thursday at Syracuse University Soccer Stadium.
The Orange scored the first of their three first-half goals on a corner kick by Kate Murphy. In the 16
th minute, Murphy took a corner kick and placed it perfectly inside of the far left post giving the Orange a 1-0 lead. In the 31st minute, Murphy found Erin Flurey in front of the goal and through traffic Flurey sent a shot past Lafayette senior goalkeeper
Natalie Neumann. In the 44
th minute, a pass from Maya McDermott connected with Pauline Matchens who scored Syracuse's third goal of the opening half.
Lafayette recorded two shots in the first half, both of which were on goal. Syracuse had 10 shots, of which six were on target.
In the second-half, Ashley Rauch delivered a pass to Anna Rupert in the 66
th minute and Rupert placed a shot out of the reach of Lafayette junior goalkeeper
Lindsay Dewar.
In the 80
th minute, the Leopards benefited from a Syracuse mistake. An own goal by the Orange put Lafayette on the board and made the score 4-1.
Lafayette had two shots in the second half, both on goal, while Syracuse took 15 shots and four were on goal. Lafayette finished the evening with four shots, all of which were on goal. Syracuse recorded 25 shots, 10 of which were on target.

Gretchen Waechter, all recorded one shot on goal. Neumann began the game in net for the Leopards and recorded three saves. She was replaced by Dewar for the second 45 minutes, who was also credited with three saves.
The Leopards return home on Sunday to face St. Peter's University at 3:30 p.m.
