EASTON, Pa. - Bridget Bailey has joined the Lafayette softball program as an assistant coach under first-year head coach Karavin Dew.Â
Bailey is a 2022 graduate of Kutztown University and she will serve as the team's pitching coach along with assisting in other key areas of the program. Â
"I am excited to have Bridget joining the Lafayette softball family," Dew said. "Her experience at the collegiate level and her passion for coaching the sport will be extremely beneficial to our program and the development of our student-athletes."
Bailey graduated with a bachelor of science degree in sport management in 2022 and was a four-year member of the Kutztown softball team. She ranks second in career strikeouts (450) and fourth in career wins (56). The Norwood, Pa. native also holds the Kutztown record for career saves (8) and ranks fifth in career shutouts (15) and single-season wins (22). Â
Bailey was a three-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honoree and was named its pitcher of the week on eight occasions. She was tabbed as the PSAC Freshman of the Year in 2019 and its Pitcher of the Year in 2022 when she guided Kutztown to a PSAC title and an NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regional berth.Â
In 2022, Bailey served as a facility management intern at Elite Sports Academy in Emmaus, Pa. She also worked as a pitching instructor for four years, helping girls ages 7-18 with pitching mechanics. In her senior school year, she was also a member of the Kutztown swimming team.
