BALTIMORE, Md. - With a strong fourth quarter, the Leopards stretched their win streak to three, beating Loyola 39-35 on Wednesday night at Reitz Arena.

Junior guard
Makayla Andrews led the Leopards with her 14th game of the season in double-figures. She netted 13 points while adding six rebounds.

Loyola was paced by its leading scorer and rebounder on the season, sophomore forward Lex Therien who had 10 points and 16 rebounds (including her 500th career rebound). Graduate student Taleah Dixon joined Therien in double figures also with 10 points.Â

Lafayette and Loyola had an evenly matched first quarter, heading to break with the Greyhounds up 12-9. Loyola put together a 7-0 run over the final three and a half minutes of the half to head into the locker room up 23-15.

Lafayette trailed 29-20 heading into the fourth, as freshman
Kay Donahue opened up the scoring with a three at 8:39.
Sophomore
Abby Antognoli hit the next basket of the game, a jumper at 6:17 that put the Leopards down 29-25. Andrews picked up a rebound and dished the ball to Antognoli who scored a layup to put the Leopards down two, 29-27.

Therien made the second of two attempts from the line, and
Aniya Matthews responded on the next possession by netting a layup of her own to put the Leopards within one, down 30-29.

With 3:13 left in the game, Antognoli scored a lay-up and converted a three-point play from the charity stripe to put the Leopards up 32-30.
Kylie Favours and Andrews each added a free throw with Andrews also contributing a layup to advance the lead to 36-30 with 1:54 remaining.

Kelly Ratigan's three with 1:39 left cut the Leopards' lead in half at 36-33.

The hosts fouled Antognoli who made the second of two attempts from the line. Loyola's Dixon followed with a jumper on the next possession as Lafayette maintained its two-point advantage (37-35) with 1:01 remaining in the contest.

The Leopards ran the clock down to 34 seconds, when Matthews picked up a rebound off of a missed shot by Antognoli.Â

Loyola got the ball back with 13 seconds remaining and Dixon airballed a three with three ticks left on the clock. Loyola was forced to foul and Andrews sealed the game by draining two free throws as the Leopards held on for the 39-35 final.

Lafayette welcomes Colgate on Saturday at 2 p.m., hosting the National Girls and Women in Sports Day Game. Lafayette College athletics will be holding a pre-game clinic for girls in grades 3-5 and it will be followed by an autograph session.
