WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Lafayette volleyball team was swept by Army (25-20, 27-25, 25-20) Friday evening in West Point, N.Y.
The Black Knights jumped out to an early 7-2 lead to begin the first set. A kill by senior
Abby Nieporte stemmed the tide for the Maroon and White. Nieporte finished the match with six kills. The Leopards fought their way back to 19 apiece after a long stretch from senior
Alyssa Vitale at the service line. An attack error from Lafayette ended up giving Army the first set 25-20.
The second set of action provided fans 14 tie scores and 11 lead changes. Both teams exchanged points to take the score to 10-10 early in the second set. Lafayette took a 22-17 lead after junior
Phoebe Glass grabbed a kill. Army held its ground and won the second set 27-25.
Army took an early lead in the third set and never looked back, winning the final set 25-20.
The Leopards are back in action at 4 p.m. tomorrow as they face Holy Cross in Worcester.
