Leopards Fall to Bucknell, 2-0

Lafayette travels to Navy on Wednesday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lafayette women's soccer fell 2-0 to Bucknell University on Saturday at Holmes Stadium.

Neither team was able to get on the board in the first half. The squads took a combined three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, with only one of those shots requiring Lafayette senior goalkeeper, Lindsay Dewar, to make a save. Lafayette was credited with a total of four shots in the first half, while Bucknell had seven. Both teams had two corner kicks.

Just six minutes into the second half, Bucknell jumped in front. Henna Andican sent a cross into the box that a set up a short-range header for Paige Temple. Temple directed the header into an empty spot in the net to give the Bison a 1-0 advantage.

In the 88th minute, Bucknell added to its lead. Teresa Deda pick-pocketed the ball from Lafayette's back line and went straight to the goal, finishing off the breakaway to give the Bison a 2-0 final.

Lafayette ended the afternoon with nine shots, five of which were on goal. Bucknell had 16 shots, with nine on goal. The Leopards were awarded two corners, while the Bison had five. Senior Sara Oswald led the Leopards in shots, with three.

Dewar (seven saves) started the match for the Leopards and played the full 90 minutes. Her Bucknell counterpart, Jenna Hall (five saves) also played 90 minutes. 

The Leopards travel to Annapolis, Md. on Wednesday, to battle Navy at 6 p.m. at Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
