STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The Lafayette men's soccer team defeated Stony Brook 3-2 Tuesday evening for its eighth win of the 2023 campaign.
In the 26
th minute, Stony Brook broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal from Jonas Bickus. This was Bickus' eighth goal of the season. He was assisted by Trevor Harrison and Alex Fleury.
Lafayette equalized the match in the 31
st minute with a goal from freshman
Max Fujimori. This was Fujimori's first goal of his collegiate career and he was assisted by fellow classmate
Beaux Lizewski.
Going into halftime, the score remained at one apiece.
Carter Houlihan's second goal of the season grabbed the lead for the Leopards with a goal in the 52
nd minute off a
Connor DeAngelis assist.
The Seawolves found an equalizer in the 61
st minute thanks to Bas Beckhoven.
With just 19 minutes to play, junior
Andrey McIntyre netted the winner for the Maroon and White. This was the Hanover, Jamaica native's first goal as a Leopard. He was assisted by fellow junior
Lawrence Aydlett.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erix Axtman finished the match with a season-high seven saves out of the 16 shots he saw Tuesday night.
The Leopards are back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday to host Bucknell for senior day.
