EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette volleyball team was defeated by American in four sets (25-21, 25-17, 29-27, 25-15) Saturday afternoon inside Kirby Sports Center.
Saturday's match served as senior day for the women's volleyball program. Prior to the match commencing, the team's five seniors,

Gracie Gibson,
Serafina Rivera,
Katie Weston and
Isabella Calle, were honored for their hard work and dedication over their careers.
The first set of play featured seven tie scores and two lead changes. The score was tied at 15 apiece before Lafayette went on a 3-0 run courtesy of kills from freshmen
Irelynd Lorenzen and
Emma Patmon. Lorenzen finished the match with a career-high 12 kills, hitting .588. She also added three aces, one solo block and two block assists. Patmon ended the afternoon with 10 kills and three digs. The Leopards took the first set 25-21.
American took an early 10-3 lead to start the second set. The Maroon and White fought their way back to being down five points, but Adelina Berisha's six kills in the set proved to be enough. The Eagles won the second set 25-17.
The Eagles carried their momentum into the third set. The score was tied at 24-24 before an attack error by American gave Lafayette the advantage. Both teams exchanged blows until Holly Hopkins' ace gave the Eagles a one-point lead. American claimed the third set 29-27.
Zeynep Uzen's and Carly Sciborski's nine combined kills in the fourth set propelled American to take the fourth set 25-15 and win the match 3-1.
Lafayette is back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. as it travels to Bethlehem to face rival Lehigh.
