BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Lafayette volleyball team fell to Lehigh in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-14) Friday evening at the Leeman-Turner Arena.
The Leopards gained an early 2-0 lead in the first set thanks to a kill from freshman
Emma Patmon and an attack error by the Mountain Hawks. Patmon finished the match with five kills, hitting .273. Lehigh fought back and led 15-9 midway through the first set. The Mountain Hawks then went on a 4-0 run courtesy of kills from Alyssa Fingall and Megan Schulte. Lehigh took the first set 25-14.
The Mountain Hawks carried their momentum into the second set of action. Lehigh had a 16-10 advantage before extending its lead with a 3-0 run. Lylah Washington recorded an ace and Emily Stewart tallied a kill. Washington won the set for Lehigh (25-16) with a kill assisted by Fingall.
Set three supplied fans with five tie scores and two lead changes. Junior
Nina Kernan gave Lafayette a 9-8 lead after she tallied a kill assisted by fellow classmate
Anna Penman. After Madison McCartney tied the match at nine apiece, Lehigh went on a 7-0 run. During the run, Katarina Kaburov recorded three aces. The Mountain Hawks completed the 3-0 sweep with a kill from Schulte.
Lafayette is back in action at 4 p.m. tomorrow to take on Bucknell in Lewisburg
