EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette volleyball team was defeated by Patriot League opponent Colgate on Sunday afternoon in straight sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) inside Kirby Sports Center.

Katie Weston reached the 1,000 career digs milestone during the match.
The first set of play was back-and-forth from both teams. Colgate led 7-6 before it went on a 4-0 run courtesy of an ace from Taylor Cigna and a few errors from the Leopards. Lafayette climbed back to only being down two points after senior
Alyssa Vitale recorded back-to-back aces. The Raiders
eventually took the set 25-17.
Set two provided spectators with 13 tie scores and six lead changes. The Maroon and White took its second lead of the set after Vitale tallied another ace. Vitale finished the match with three aces. Colgate took back the lead (19-18) due to a kill from Milan Bayless. The Raiders rallied and captured the second set 25-20.
Colgate continued its momentum into the third set, jumping out to an early 12-9 lead. The Raiders did not look back, claiming the final set (25-23) after a kill from Gillian Hauschild.
The Leopards are back in action Saturday at 4 p.m. as they take on Loyola in Baltimore, Md.
