EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette football head coach
John Troxell '94 has added six student-athletes to the
Class of 2027. The mostly defensive additions will join a group of
15 student-athletes who made it official during the early signing period in December, all part of the first full recruiting effort by Troxell and his staff.
Today, Lafayette added two linebackers, a defensive lineman, a defensive back, an offensive lineman and a wide receiver coming from Florida, Texas, Maryland, Louisiana, and Washington, D.C.
In the 2022-23 recruiting class (combining the 15 early signees with the six commitments from National Signing Day) 10 student-athletes are tagged for the offensive side of the ball, while nine are slotted for defense and two others are special teams additions.
Lafayette brings in four offensive linemen, three wide receivers, two running backs and a quarterback on offense. Defensively, four linemen will come to College Hill, joined by three linebackers and two defensive backs. On special teams, the Maroon and White added a pair of kickers/punters in the 11
th scholarship recruiting class in the Patriot League era.
"This is our first full recruiting class since our arrival on campus. Our staff did a great job of recruiting a very talented group of student-athletes that will build on the foundation of our program," said Troxell, the Fred M. Kirby II '42 Head Football Coach. "This class will have enough talent to add immediate depth to our football team. These young men will not only bring value on the football field but will also be strong leaders on our campus."
The signees from the Class of 2027 come to College Hill from eight states/territories: six from New Jersey, five from Pennsylvania, three from Maryland, two each hailing from Florida and Texas and one apiece from Louisiana, North Carolina and Washington D.C.
The Lafayette football program will kick off its spring season on March 21, culminating with the Maroon and White spring showcase on April 22 at Fisher Stadium.
