Ciuffeda Hits Sixth Home Run of the Season at Fordham

Lafayette starts a three-game series with Binghamton on Friday

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham scored eight runs in the first four innings to pull away for an 11-1 win over Lafayette baseball on Thursday at Houlihan Park.

The Rams opened the scoring in the first when freshman Daniel Bucciero hit an RBI-groundout to give Fordham a 1-0 lead.

In the third, the Rams added three more runs to their tally. Senior Zach Selinger lined an RBI-single to left center field and then later in the inning freshman Tommy McAndrews hit a two-run home run to make the score 4-0.

In the fourth, Fordham drove in four more runs on a bases-loaded walk to senior Will Findley, a Lafayette error and a two-run single by McAndrews, extending the Rams lead to 8-0.

Lafayette got on the board in the top of the fifth. Senior Pete Ciuffreda blasted a solo home run to right field. The home run was Ciuffreda's team-leading sixth home run of the season.

Fordham tacked on another run in the sixth and two more runs in the eighth to make the final score 11-1.

Junior Trey Maeker collected the win for the Rams and junior Bo Planta took the loss for the Leopards.

Lafayette is next in action on Friday when it travels to Binghamton for a three-game series that is set to start at 3 p.m.
