Leopards Drop Doubleheader at Bucknell

Lafayette travels to Navy on Sunday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette baseball team dropped its opening Patriot League series against Bucknell on Friday at Depew Field 11-0 and 20-2.
  
In game one, Bucknell jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Bison added on two more runs in the third, three in the fourth and one in the sixth, bringing the final tally to 11-0.

Chris DiFiore was credited with the win for the Bucknell and Adam Bogosian took the loss for the Leopards.

In the second game, Bucknell was first on the board with a run in the third, followed by more three runs in the fourth.

Lafayette responded with a run in the fifth. With the bases-loaded, senior Patrick Vandenbergh hit an RBI-sacrifice fly to right field, scoring sophomore Michael Zarrillo and making the score 4-1.

The Bison continued to tack on runs, with three in the fifth, eight in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Lafayette countered with a run in the ninth. Senior Pete Ciuffreda singled to left field and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Zarrillo lined an RBI-single to center field, scoring Ciuffreda and making the final score 20-2

Will Greer collected the win for Bucknell and freshman Trace Florio took the loss for Lafayette.

The Leopards will be next in action on Sunday when they travel to Annapolis Md. to take Navy for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
