EASTON, Pa. – Boston U.'s Louis Perfetto netted four goals in the final quarter as the Terriers edged Lafayette 12-10 on a rainy Saturday at Fisher Stadium.
Junior
Jacob Freeman led the Leopards with a career-high three goals and an assist, while classmate
Charlie Cunniffe contributed two goals and an assist.
Perfetto facilitated the second-half comeback for the Terriers, netting six goals with five of them occurring in the final 17 minutes of the contest.
The Terriers led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, with five different goal scorers for the teams. Lafayette outscored Boston U. 3-1 in the second with Freeman netting two, giving Lafayette a 5-4 lead at halftime.
Boston U. struck first in the third, but Lafayette responded with three in a row, as
Peter Lehman,
Carter Cecil and
Charlie Cunniffe scored goals. The Terriers responded with two goals to decrease the deficit to one, down 8-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
Perfetto tied the game with 11:59 remaining in the fourth, and Freeman netted his third of the game at 11:20 and grabbed the 9-8 lead.
Boston U.'s Perfetto led a four-goal run, netting three and lifting the Terriers over Lafayette 12-10.
Rookie
Joe Doherty made 10 saves while his Boston U. counterpart Matt Garber made seven. Junior
Brian Collins led the defense with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lafayette opens April with The Rivalry versus Lehigh at 1 p.m. on Apr. 1 in Bethlehem.
