EASTON, Pa.- Saturday's women's lacrosse contest between Lafayette and Colgate at noon was postponed due to severe weather until Sunday at 10 a.m. The Raiders earned a 15-11 final on Sunday afternoon when play resumed in Fisher Stadium.
On Saturday, Colgate outscored the Leopards 4-1 in the first period with two goals by Caroline Panzirer. Sophomore midfielder
Sophia Spallone put the Maroon and White on the board at 7:50.
The first seven minutes of the second quarter elapsed before the game was delayed.
Sarah Bennett added two tallies in that time for Lafayette before the teams headed into Kirby Sports Center; Colgate led 6-3 at the break.
Play resumed Sunday, when Colgate extended its lead to end the first half with an 8-4 advantage.
Katie Chiasson, Bennett and
Genevieve Strobel knocked down goals for the Leopards, but the Raiders held steady at the end of the third period, 13-7.
Lafayette made a four-goal run in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 14-11 by 7:13. Colgate ultimately took the final goal of the contest at 5:07 for a 15-11 final.
The Raiders held the advantage in draw controls (22-8), ground balls (25-18), shots (41-24) and clears (18-19 to 20-25).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Lexie Coldiron made 14 saves on 29 shots on goal, while Colgate keeper Catie Lang made seven saves on 18 shots.

On both days, the Patriot League was exhibiting its commitment to student-athlete mental health in a program headed by the league's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Both teams wore warm-up shirts featuring a green ribbon in honor of mental health and well-being.
The Leopards travel to No. 11 Loyola Maryland on Saturday with the opening draw set for noon in the Ridley Athletic Complex.
