No. 10 Loyola Overpowers Women’s Lacrosse

Leopards held the Greyhounds to one goal in the second half

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Lafayette women's lacrosse team was overpowered by Loyola Maryland, 14-1, on Saturday afternoon in the Ridley Athletic Complex. The Greyhounds are ranked No. 10 in the country by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Loyola made an early 7-0 run throughout the first quarter. Georgia Latch had four goals, followed by Sydni Black with two and one by Emily Wills.

The Greyhounds pushed ahead and extended their advantage by six for a 13-0 lead at the halftime buzzer. Latch commanded Loyola with her four scores, followed by Wills and Black with three apiece.

Sophomore attacker Sara Rogers found the net at 6:47 in the fourth quarter to put the Leopards on the board.

Lafayette's defensive line held the Greyhounds to one goal for the entirety of the second half. Alanna Wray had the lone tally at 5:30 in the fourth period to cap a 14-1 final.

The Greyhounds held the advantage in draw controls (15-4), shots (35-15) and clears (18-19 to 12-18). The Leopards picked up 17 ground balls to Loyola's 13.

Lafayette's junior goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron made 14 saves on 28 shots faced. Her Loyola counterparts, Lauren Spence and Makenzie Butler, made five and one against seven shots on goal, respectively.

The Leopards conclude the regular season at home on Thursday against No. 16 Army. Opening draw is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Stadium.
