EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette faced Siena on Friday afternoon.
Hale Lombard's hat trick propelled the Leopards to a final score of 4-1.
Senior captain Lombard showcased a special performance for the Leopards grabbing three goals in a 20-minute time span.
Lombard broke the deadlock in the 16
th minute when he picked the ball off one of Siena's center backs and drove towards goal. His right-footed effort found the far post side-netting giving the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
Lombard completed his first half hat trick by scoring in the 25
th and 36
th minute. His hat trick takes his career tally of goals to 26.
Going into halftime, the score remained at 3-0.
Coming out of the break, Siena looked hungry. In the 48
th minute, Siena pulled one back to cut the deficit. Jack Mendrysa picked the ball up at the top of the box before striking a quick shot to the bottom left corner of
Griffin Huff's goal.
The Leopards tacked on another in the 64
th minute. Freshman
Beaux Lizewski opened his collegiate account. Lizewski made a run to the back post when junior
Lawrence Aydlett headed the ball back across Siena's goal. Lizewski kept the play alive fizzing the ball into the penalty area. The ball took a deflection and ended up in the back of net to give Lafayette a 4-1 lead.
This was the first game Lafayette scored four goals in a match since 2019 when they faced Siena in its season opener.
The Leopards will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at home.
