Baltimore, Md. - Lafayette women's soccer dropped a rain-filled contest to Loyola, 2-1, on Saturday at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Defense was king in the first half of the match, as both teams combined for just seven shots in the first 45 minutes. In the 32nd minute, Loyola's Baylee DeSmit found the back of the net on a free kick from just outside the box, to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Loyola continued to put pressure on the Lafayette defense. In the 53rd minute, Loyola added to its lead. Desmit scored on a rebound after a save by Lafayette senior goalkeeper

Melissa Lamanna got the Leopards into the scoring column. She rocketed a shot past Loyola goalkeeper Paige Sim to make the score 2-1.
Lafayette ended the afternoon with four shots, three of which were on goal. Loyola had 13 shots, with eight on goal. The Leopards were awarded one corner, while the Greyhounds had seven. Senior

Ashley Martinho and Lamanna had one apiece.
Dewar started the match for the Leopards and played the full 90 minutes, recording six saves. Sim recorded two saves for Loyola.Â
The Leopards return home for their final non-conference contest against Princeton on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
