WASHINGTON, D.C.- After its second conference win against rival Lehigh on Sunday, the Lafayette women's volleyball team fell to American in three sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) Friday evening in the nation's capital.
The first set of action was back-and-forth from both teams. The Maroon and White jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a kill from junior

Alyssa Vitale. American fought its way back to tie the score late in the set at 20 apiece. The Eagles then went on a 3-0 run after Zeynep Uzen tallied two kills to pair with a bad set from Lafayette. Uzen finished the match with a team-high 20 kills, hitting .405. American ended up taking the first set 25-22.
The second set provided spectators with seven tie scores and three lead changes. Two attack errors from American gave the Leopards an early 2-0 lead. Both teams had 14 points before American went on a six-point run. The Eagles didn't look back, eventually winning the second set 25-20.
American won the third set to capture its ninth win of the season.
