EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette men's lacrosse will be partnering with the HEADstrong Foundation to host a fundraising event on October 22
nd inside Fisher Stadium.
The Maroon and White will welcome Marist and UMBC to Fisher Stadium for three exhibition contests centered around awareness for the HEADstrong Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer. HEADstrong's goal as a foundation is to fulfill the vision of the late Nicholas Colleluori, its founder. Nick endured a 14-month battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and his final wish was for others to benefit from his journey.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the men's lacrosse program has partnered with HEADstrong.
"We are honored to host the annual Nick Colleluori Classic here at Lafayette," head coach
Patrick Myers said. "This cause means a lot to the lacrosse community, the greater Lehigh Valley community and the Lafayette Lacrosse Program. We are so grateful for Cheryl and Pat's leadership and we look forward to raising money that will go towards this ongoing battle. Our men are focused and driven to help in any way possible and I want to thank Ryan Moran at UMBC and Keegan Wilkinson at Marist for linking arms with us as we attack cancer together."
The HEADstrong Lehigh Valley Lacrosse Club will serve as honorary guests at the event, and there will be a tailgate carrying on throughout the day.
Men's lacrosse members have also created individual HEADstrong pages to assist in fundraising efforts.
Admission to the event will cost $10. The Lafayette players will be signing autographs at the end of each game. In between games, the team will honor a HEADstrong sponsored family and announce "fat head" award recipients.
The complete schedule for the day is to be determined.
