Lafayette Extends Myers Through 2030

Reigning Patriot League Coach of the Year will lead program into second century of Leopard lacrosse

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Patrick Myers has received a contract extension that will keep him on College Hill through 2030, Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman announced Friday. The reigning Patriot League Coach of the Year enters his eighth season as the Leopards' head coach in 2026, off the back of the program's most successful season in its 100 years of existence.

"We're delighted to extend coach Myers' contract. Over the past seven seasons, he's been the driving force behind building a new standard and culture for our men's lacrosse program," Freeman said. "His tireless leadership, unwavering dedication and attention to detail have been nothing short of exemplary. Pat's support of our student-athletes, both on and off the field, has shaped the identity of this team. Last season's success is a direct reflection of his vision and work ethic, and we're excited for his great work to continue in Easton for years to come."

Myers took over as Lafayette's head coach in 2018 and the Leopards have been steadily improving ever since. In 2025, the Kennebunk, Maine native led the Maroon and White to their most successful season in program history, turning heads along the way. His seventh campaign on College Hill marked the first time Lafayette won 10 games in a single season (10-6) and the first time it reached five conference victories (5-3). Myers also guided the Leopards to their first home Patriot League playoff game and their first playoff victory (Apr. 29, 9-5 over Navy).

In addition, the men's lacrosse team has seen success in the classroom since Myers took over. Across the past six seasons, Myers' squad has posted an average GPA of 3.47 and 69 Leopards earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status in the past two years. He also coached Lafayette's two most recent recipients of the Male Class of 1913 Trophy (Peter Lehman '24 & Riley Sullivan '25), which is presented annually to the Lafayette senior student-athletes who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.

"It's an honor to lead this lacrosse program into this new era of Lafayette athletics.  It has been a collective effort from players, staff, administration and alumni to elevate this program to new heights and we continue to have so much pride in the hard work done together," Myers said. "The fruits of these labors will continue to grow the program in the years to come as we chase championships.  I continue to feel blessed to have the unwavering support of our Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman, President Nicole Hurd, the best assistant coaches in the country and our incredible alumni base. My family and I love the Lafayette community, the players, staff and all the families associated with Lafayette lacrosse and we look forward to a very bright future ahead!"

The 2026 campaign marks a century of seasons in Easton for the men's lacrosse program, since its inception in 1926. The Maroon and White's 100th season comes at a perfect time as the College begins its bicentennial celebration.

On Oct. 25, Lafayette lacrosse will host its eighth annual HEADstrong Fall Event Series at Fisher Stadium. Click this link to learn more!
